Meet Charlotte

My great-grandmother once told me, "The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." It's funny how such simple advice can change your life. As I worked my way through law school and studied for the bar, her wisdom kept me grounded, reminding me of what matters—how a life is best lived, in service to others. I stayed true to that throughout my legal career—first as a devoted advocate for children, then in the courtroom as assistant public defender, and eventually being sworn in as a magistrate for this city. I worked many late nights because I knew people depended on what I did.

Here in my adopted city, I have always sought to engage with others. It what led me to serve on community boards and show up for city council meetings, town halls, parades, farmers markets—downtown coffeehouses too. This is where the heart of Alexandria beats, where lively conversations about development and zoning are as common as talk about cherry blossoms and the weather. It's through these interactions that I've cultivated an appreciation for spirited debate—with my friends, my neighbors, and even the person next to me in line for an morning americano dark roast at Misha’s or Buzz.

Understanding begins with listening—something else my great-grandmother taught me. In the courtroom, I learned that true advocacy begins with asking thoughtful questions and allowing everyone, even the quietest voices, to express themselves without judgment. As I aim to walk every part of our diverse city, I want to keep the focus where it belongs—on the issues that matter most to you. That's why I make a point of visiting a different part of Alexandria every single day. I am willing to go the extra mile (quite literally) to connect with the most important person in this election—that’s you.

For me, it’s very simple and very clear. My only agenda is you and what matters to you, your family, your neighborhood and your livelihood. Let’s begin the conversation.
